Nice to have a gig on the books.
Hi Guys,
Nice to have a gig on the books. When you are out it's a sinking feeling. When I have a gig then I'm in the water dog paddling. I identify with my "job" so i can capture the attitude and live the lifestyle. I'm more of a studio musician than a touring one but having a regular nite is a godsend I have to push harder.
With a band and I'm finished with DUD by the wa,y well not with him and I even phoned to apologize for saying that I didn't want to work with Michel Dion on the bass anymore because he cancelled the practice at the last minute and we couldn't re-schedule it because other (a new keyboardist who played jazzswing on my casio) was busy having reserved Monday's for the band ... we had been all through this Michel Dion is not a band man and is not ready for a commitment other than his family ... later for him... when he realizes what a loss it is to fall by the wayside as the parade goes on. So I was ready to meet with who ever would show and it so happened that Phil the JC lookalike was going to be a guest also. Dud cancelled the practice so that was it I QUIT and even though I phoned back the next day to apologize to Dud and to say that I'm not mad at him and to ask him why MD didn't show he just hummed and hawwed told me someone gave him a truck and he had to go and get it... I've never heard from DUD since... ... my point is that if some one can have a successful band and mix with other players well that is amazing because to sustain a musical relationship takes commitment the boyz have got to have a common goal as you put it. So everyone is back in their studio doing what they can.
My effort at the MANCHESTER was appreciated The new owneer Daniel David said I was very professional had a great sound and that I was a good MC ...and I got a good price and they got a good deal but there isn't enough people. The Lanterne had live music regularly on weekend nites on their terrace and the people tend stay up there. Now it's over at the Lanterne maybe it will start up more at the Manchester ... but I'm gone I accepted 2 Fridays 22 sep & 29 so I think there is noone for this Friday Nite ... well let them miss me. In St-Felix at the PUB2000 they hired the duo so it's a real chance for us having Sylvie on stage not only generates more Family income but makes my contribution easier = more fun it's win win win when she works... but I'm not going to fall in the trap of giving her away for free so when she's not being paid she's not even in the room... eventually they will get interested enough to dig a little deeper....
Well the sun is up now
later... solo
